Pine Hill Primary Center 1635 East Delavan Avenue Cheektowaga, New York Pine Hill currently staffs a full time speech/language pathologist as well as one part-time therapist. Students with a variety of speech and language needs are serviced during 30 minute small group sessions. Therapists will identify needs through a variety of ways including kindergarten screening, teacher referrals, parent referrals, and the Instructional Support Team. Identified students are then given a comprehensive evaluation upon receiving parent permission. The evaluation consists of a test battery and a language sample. Identified students may have needs in receptive or expressive language, fluency, articulation and voice. Vocabulary, auditory processing and grammatical goals may be created. Goals may also include the production of smooth,easy speech to decrease stuttering; awareness of vocal abuse and misuse patterns; auditory discrimination and production of phonemes; pragmatic language improvement in the areas of eye contact, beginning a conversation, maintain a conversation and terminating a conversation.
